Fabric & Building
The PCC has appointed a Project & Fabric Committee (PFC).
The Committee meets regularly and reports to the PCC.
The following building and maintenance works have been undertaken and are planned.
The electrical systems have been overhauled and are now compliant with current standards.
Regular inspections have been undertaken including those in respect of asbestos management, fire risk and lightening conductors. Emergency roof and gutter repairs were undertaken in March 2022 following storm damage. A bat survey has been undertaken by Natural England ahead of Phases 2 & 3.
Phase 1 comprising Stone repair and repointing works to external walls to a height of 1800mm maximum above ground level. Practical completion was achieved on Thursday 30th September 2022.
Phase 2 Works comprising high level stone repairs and re-pointing ie above a height of 1800mm above ground and 2022 Phase 3 Works comprising overhaul of roof coverings including the repair, overhaul, part renewal and decoration of the rainwater goods and overhaul and refurbishment of the clock. Advanced plans are in hand to undertake the Phase 2 and 3 Works by the end of September 2022.
The PFC is currently undertaking extensive investigative and other planning work in relation to Flood Resilience measures in the expectation of putting forward and implementing plans for works in 2023. Click the link below for photos of the Flooding.
The PFC is considering the requirements for further works to the tower including pinnacles, finials and replacement cockerel.
Every five years, a church building must be inspected by a suitably experienced and qualified professional, appointed after consultation with the DAC. Ours was undertaken following completion of Phase 2 & 3 Works at the end of 2022. The conclusion of the report acknowledged the significant project of repairs as well as other works and that as a result, the Church is in reasonable condition for it's age and size. Recommendations of the report will be addressed in the indicated timescale.
The PFC has undertaken an Accessibility Audit and will be implementing it's recommendations.
