The Organ

.....was built in 1891 by Abbott and Smith, a well respected firm of organ builders, and is regarded as a fine example of a fairly small Victorian organ. It was refurbished in 1953 and in the early 1980s there was added a mixture stop (3 ranks), which helps to create a bright and uplifting sound. It has two manuals, great and swell,  and a full size pedalboard. It has been lovingly maintained by the church over the years and makes a worthy contribution to our worship.

The Choir

We have a small four-part robed choir at the Church, which sings at most of our services. At St Michaels we do our best to follow the advice of St Augustine (‘He who sings prays twice’) and we regard music as an important and integral element of our worship. We are continually on the lookout for new choristers and Tony Smith, our organist and choirmaster, would be delighted to hear from anyone who might be interested in joining us.
